About Tax Preparation Fairfax Process

By Olivia Cross

Every relevant tax entity has an obligation to collect tax returns from all its residents. The residents include corporate and individuals also known as taxpayers. The process of preparing tax returns is known as tax preparation normally done annually. Because of the complexity of tax laws most taxpayers resort to engaging the services of licensed professionals such as barristers, certified public accountants or registered agents. For proper tax preparation Fairfax residents need a good person to serve them.

There are those sharp taxpayers who easily file tax returns on their own. The tech savvy taxpayers use either tax preparation software or online services. The internal revenue service or the relevant tax office uses return forms details to recalculate the information contained in it.

For the information filled in these reports to be verified as true, there is another return known as information return. Say an employer fills this return form for all his employees including their precise incomes. These information return items are used to corroborate the tax returns forms as accurate and not misleading.

Licensed professionals are also required by the Fairfax tax office to report their incomes for tax calculation purposes. They earn their incomes from preparing tax for those individuals who hire them. They are also required to forward to the taxman their incomes for tax purposes.

A taxpayer may sometimes make an error in a previous tax return report already filed. There is a form that he or she can use to amend the information known as amended form. This is not to say that one will use it to correct mathematical errors. That is easily done by the tax authority where the return is filed.

Dates are also set as the final day when the tax office expects to receive the returns. The date is set on the fifteenth April of the following year. Different avenues are available for you when forwarding your return. Besides forwarding in person you can also do so via post box, or through designated registered courier, or online through electronic mail or other means. All these means should get your return before the due date

If a taxpayer decides to file their returns through other means not in person, the return is marked is delivered using the postmarked date. For instance if you make your return electronically a day earlier and so it will be noted as delivered on the day it was stamped as electronically mailed and not the day the office receives it.

Tax officers recalculates the returns before uploading or certifying it. The result of which is sometimes not agreeable with the taxpayer's calculation. If the taxpayer's calculation is higher than tax office one, he or she is sent a tax refund note to come claim their tax overpayment.
