The easiest way to go is to switch the TV on and let them watch their much loved cartoon shows all day long. There are also the latest gadgets where numerous game applications can be downloaded. There are also game consoles that they can master, too. But you don't want to do these, do you? It's best to let them experience summer fun with educational and enriching activities.
Start at home. Have them fix their room, sort their stuff, and decide which they would like to give away or sell at a rummage sale. Spend one weekend opening your doors to people who might find something worth buying then use the proceeds to buy a simple token for their hard work. This way, they will come to appreciate the value of money and a clean home.
Bring them outdoors by going on a road trip and spending a couple of days at a beach resort or camping area. Do nature tripping and sightseeing. Let them keep a record of everything that they see and experience which they could use to create a scrapbook as soon as you go home.
Search for schools that offer classes that may interest your children. If they are crafty, sign them up for an art class and if they like sports, a swimming, soccer, basketball, or martial arts clinic will help develop and improve their skills. If they are into dancing and singing, a performing arts class will be a great choice. If they are willing and eager to take up advanced lessons in major subjects in school, you can coordinate with a tuition agency and engage your children in home tuition sessions. Just be sure that the tutor employs fun and creative teaching methods to make learning appealing and enjoyable. Other offerings that you might find relevant are photography, culinary, or any kind of musical instrument.
Try as much as possible to join your kids in such activities to make their vacation even more memorable. When they see you giving up a few days of business or work, or even for just a few hours, to be with them, it will make them feel loved and truly special. Rest assured that they will be grateful to you for doing so and remember such gesture until they are all grown up.
